Having worked with George for almost two years on my first undergraduate research project, I can say with the utmost certainty that he is one of the best graduate student mentors and scientists I know. His passion for his work is matched only by his work ethic, and I am proud to say he is one of the best scientists and people I’ve had the pleasure to work with.

There are a million different ways that George has helped me to become a better scientist! When I worked with George, he challenged me to think critically about our experiment and routinely exposed me to different techniques that I continue to use to this very day. Not only did he immerse me into the world of scientific research, but he also cares my professional development outside of the research lab. Anyone would be lucky to have George as a mentor.

The opportunity to have George as a mentor has been a highlight of my time thus far at Georgia Tech! George has such a passion for his research, and he challenges me to become a better scientist by developing a critical or analytical approach towards our research work. Beyond the laboratory setting, George pushes me to improve myself, not only professionally, but as an individual.

Working with George during my undergraduate degree gave me a leg up in my graduate work. I use skills in analysis and experimental design that I developed with his guidance daily. George's mentorship has given me the confidence to do well in my scientific career. I'm thankful for his help.

Working with George for almost 2 years has been very beneficial. Times where I knew little, he helped with making sure I understood. In times where I didn’t know how, he pushed me to think outside the box, and to forget judgement or fear of being wrong. During my work here, I never felt like I had to suppress my ideas or felt unimportant, and that stems from George’s leadership, in making you feel part of the team and more than just a colleague. I’m really glad I found George and wouldn’t trade up my experience doing undergraduate research with him for anything else.

George was an incredible mentor while I worked with him in my first research lab. He loves his research and shares that passion with his students. His patience in teaching and care for his students were exemplary, always encouraging me to ask questions and seek further career advice. I feel privileged to have worked with and learned from George -- an intelligent and driven scientist.

George has been an inspiration to all. In lab, he was a guide and a mentor. Outside of lab, I trusted him as a friend and confidant. Over the past two years, George has helped me become better suited for the academic world. He also helped me become incredibly interested in the diverse world of astrobiology. The last two years have been memorable, and I am glad George guided me along my academic career.

Working with George has been a great privilege. I conducted undergraduate research in the same lab as George for a year and a half, and I had the opportunity to work with George more closely for the second half of my time in the lab on data analysis for our astrobiology project. He is a fantastic mentor. Moreover, working together felt like an equal partnership, and it is to be appreciated. George is one of the most attentive, dedicated, and patient colleagues I have ever met. George challenged me to grow as a scientist under his mentorship, and my time spent working with him will be something that I will truly cherish in the years to come.
